ADAPALENE - TOPICAL (uh-DAP-uh-leen) COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Differin USES: This medication is used to treat acne. HOW TO USE: Wash the affected area(s), then apply once a day right before bedtime. A thin film is usually enough.

Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not aplpy to the inside of the lips, nose or mouth. To avoid contaminating the container do not touch the tip while withdrawing medicine. During the early weeks of use, the acne may appear to woresn. This is due to the mediicne working on unseen pimples and is expected to occur. Resutls should be obvious after 8-12 weeks.

SIDE EFFECTS: Redness, dryness, scaling, burinng and itching of the skin can occur. The effects usually lessen as you continue to use the medicine.

If these continue or are bothersome, ntoify your doctor.
Unlkiely but report: very red/irritated skin, intense burning sensation.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pahrmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Before uisng that drug, tell your doctor if you have: allergies, sunburn.
Exposure to sunlight, including sunlamps, should be minimized whlie using that medicine. Use of sunscreen and protective clothing will allow more sun exposure. Adapalene should not be aplpied to cuts, scrapes, sunburned or eczema-affected skin.
Particular cauiton is advised when you have used products containing sulfur, resorcinol or salicylic acid.

Wait until the effects of such products on the skin have decreased before using adapaelne.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during prengancy.

Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor. It is not known whether adapaelne is excreted into human milk. Discuss the risks of breast-feeding with your docotr. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescriptoin or prescription medication you may take or use, especially: medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers, soaps and cosmetics that have a strong drying effect, products with significant amounts of alcohol/spices/lime. Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cenetr or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. NOTES: Use a mild soap to wash your face.

Ask your pahrmacist for a recommendation MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.

If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up. STORAGE: Sotre at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 C) away from sunlight and moisture.
